H/O Family Care Coordinator is responsible for development, coordination, and implementation of all facets of oncology bereavement program. Specialist provides services and counseling/referral to appropriate resources for individual families, members of the community, and hospital staff. Advocates and addresses the psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and developmental needs of dying patients, parents, siblings, and friends through anticipation of death and grieving process.


  • Completion of Bachelors degree in child life, child development or social work; Masters preferred
  • Experience with child development and psychosocial issues (preferentially involving loss, illness, and bereavement)
  • Critical thinking skills to assess clinical needs proactively
  • Organizational skills and ability to innovate, develop, and carry out projects and new programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of budget management
  • Must be available for events on some evenings/weekends 
  • Licensed as counselor, psychology, social work, child life specialist preferred 
  • Crisis intervention skill and experience or certification preferred
