Summary
The Point of Care Supervisor position, under the direction of the Medical and Administrative Laboratory Directors and the Operations Manager(s), oversees the Point of Care Testing program of the hospital system. This individual performs a variety of duties necessary to provide quality, efficient point of care testing services to the patients. To provide these services, the Supervisor will educate and communicate with employees of various skill levels. Experience and analytical judgment will be used to evaluate Point of Care testing and instrumentation to assure reliable and accurate results is being produced. The focus of this position is to offer and maintain a high quality of service to the laboratory department’s customers; and must represent the lab with a positive, supportive, and professional attitude. All duties are performed within the scope of the Medical Center and Departmental mission and vision statements. Laboratory and Corporate Compliance, as outlined by the OIG and CMS, is an important aspect of our laboratory’s environment. Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of, and behave in accordance with the Laboratory and Medical Center Compliance Plans. Patients served at Cook Children’s Medical Center range in age from newborn through the adolescent period. Additionally, adults are occasionally served. Specific instructions appear in the procedure manuals.
